How to spot a fake Jellycat
Updated 18 Oct 2026
Counterfeit soft toys can be unsafe for children, and fakes often turn up around Christmas and Black Friday. Here's what Jellycat itself advises, in six simple checks.
- 1
Buy from jellycat.com or an authorised stockist
This is the only way Jellycat says you can be certain a toy is genuine. Jellycat can't check toys from photos or batch codes.

Check the shop on Jellycat's stockist list
Jellycat's stockist locator lists authorised shops, including over 1,200 independent UK stores and some national retailers.

Look closely at who the seller is
On marketplaces like Amazon, eBay or social media, check the seller's name and reviews. Jellycat says it can't verify toys bought from third-party sellers or resale platforms.

Be wary of 'genuine' and 'made to order' offers
Jellycat warns about people claiming to sell 'genuine' Jellycat, or making Jellycat designs to order. Neither Jellycat nor its stockists offer that. A fake can look like a good deal.

Check the safety marks and label
Genuine Jellycats carry CE and UKCA marks. UK toy rules also require the maker's name, a contact address and a product or batch number. A missing or messy label is a warning sign.

Compare the details with jellycat.com
Check the name, colour and size against the product page on jellycat.com. We do this for every toy on Plushie Finds, including the Jellycat product code where the listing shows it.

Questions
Can Jellycat tell me if my toy is real?
No. Jellycat's help centre says it can't authenticate toys from images, batch codes or individual product checks. The only way to be certain is to buy from jellycat.com or an authorised stockist.
Are Jellycats on Amazon UK genuine?
Many are sold by independent sellers, not by Jellycat or Amazon itself. Jellycat says it can't guarantee toys bought outside its own website and authorised stockists, so check the seller carefully, or buy direct.
Where can I find an authorised Jellycat stockist?
Use Jellycat's stockist locator on jellycat.com. Jellycat says there are over 1,200 independent stores plus some national retailers in the UK.
What should I do if I think I've bought a fake?
Jellycat asks you to report suspected counterfeits to its brand protection team at [email protected]. You may also be able to get a refund from the seller or marketplace.
Why do fakes matter?
Jellycat says counterfeits can leave customers exposed to unsafe soft toys. Genuine Jellycats are tested to British, American, European and Australian safety standards and carry CE and UKCA marks.
